Each year, IIT hosts hundreds of PhD students. Although formally registered at Italian and foreign Universities, they carry out their projects in IIT research groups, where they are supervised by internationally recognised scientists. This guarantees an in-depth training in their chosen discipline, which is the first pillar of a successful PhD.
We also have a strong collaborative ethos, which broadens the training in a trans-disciplinary direction. It is usual seeing electronic engineers working with biologists, chemists with physicists, computational scientists with pharmacologists.
Last, we also want our students to develop both as solid scientists and as responsible professionals. Therefore, we offer them the possibility to grow transferable skills (in communication, technology transfer and data science), as well as understanding the impact of their research on society.
